IOWA CITY, Iowa – A week ago, members of the Iowa football team met with the media and talked about moving on from a devastating loss at Penn State.

The players repeated that somber performance on Tuesday, only this time the talk was about moving on from a costly 38-36 loss at Purdue this past Saturday.

The Penn State loss was a punch in the gut, but the loss to Purdue was even more costly because it all but eliminated Iowa from the Big Ten West Division race.

Iowa is 3-3 in the conference and 6-3 overall heading into Saturday’s game against West Division leader Northwestern (5-1, 5-4) at Kinnick Stadium.

The Hawkeyes are no longer ranked after having climbed to 16^th in the Associated Press poll and the players and coaches are now desperately searching for answers.

The players talked on Tuesday about staying the course and about getting the most out of this season, which still has three regular-season games remaining.

Iowa could finish as high as 9-3 or as low as 6-6. Throw in a bowl game and the Hawkeyes could still win 10 games or they could finish with a losing record.

In other words, this season still hasn't finished writing itself.
