Three-star athlete Marcellus Moore eager to learn more about Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three-star athlete Marcellus Moore has yet to make an unofficial visit to Iowa, but that may soon change after the Hawkeyes recently extended a scholarship offer to the 2020 prospect.
Moore, a native of Plainfield, Ill., now looks forward to checking out all that Iowa has to offer.
“It was awesome,” Moore said. “I was really excited to get the Iowa offer. It’s a school I definitely want to go check out.
“(Head) coach (Kirk) Ferentz has been a great coach at Iowa and the culture and tradition they have there stands out.”
The 5-foot-8, 165-pound Moore has a connection to the Iowa program.
Moore has been watching Iowa junior running back and fellow Plainfield native Ivory Kelly-Martin play since the two were very young.
“I grew up watching him all the way since youth football at the Naperville Patriots and then later in high school,” Moore said. “Ivory is a heck of a football player and a great guy.”
Moore’s offer list includes Bowling Green, Illinois, Illinois State, Iowa State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Toledo and Western Kentcuky but he says he is trying to enjoy the process and isn’t currently favoring any schools.
“I have absolutely no favorite yet right now,” Moore said. “I am just taking it all in right now and hope to visit some of the schools that have offered me so far.”
Moore said he’s being mostly recruiting as a running back and receiver but will play wherever he is needed.
“It’s still kind of up in the air between running back and receiver,” Moore said. “Honestly I feel more natural in the slot but I’ll play wherever the team needs me to play and do what it takes to get on the field so I can play running back as well.”
Iowa currently has four players committed to its 2020 recruiting class.
