AH TV: No time for Iowa players to dwell on Michigan loss with No. 10 Penn State coming to town
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Win or lose, the Iowa football team has a 24-hour rule that reinforces the importance of staying the course.
So in that case, the players have moved on from this past Saturday's 10-3 loss at Michigan and are focused solely on facing Penn State under the lights on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
"When you're in the fight and you're a player playing and practicing every week, there's no time to sit around," said senior fullback and co-captain Brady Ross. "With fans and things like that, I'm sure there's, I'm not a big online guy, but I'm sure there's all kinds of stuff out there.
"But look, as a player, there's no time for that because if you do that, you gain nothing at all and you just hurt yourself. There's absolutely nothing to be gained and I think if you have good leadership and you have good coaches, like I think we do, it is that simple because what's in the past is in the past."
The Nittany Lions, who are 5-0 and ranked 10th in the Associated Press poll, pose a huge challenge and have a defense that has a knack for sacking the quarterback.
That is obviously a concen since the Hawkeyes allowed eight sacks for a minutes-65 yards against Michigan.
"It is a big part of their defensive package, and especially with some of the struggles that we had last week, we think they're going to try and exploit some of those weaknesses," Stanley said.
Select members of the Iowa team met with the media on Tuesday to discuss this coming Saturday's game, which will be televised by ABC.
There was some talk about the Michigan game on Tuesday, but only because members of the media brought it up. The players want to learn from the loss and make sure that it doesn't linger because they know it'll take a complete effort to defeat Penn State, which has won the last five games in the series, including the last two games by a total of eight points.
Junior receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette also addressed the controversy at Penn State where a Nittany Lion fan wrote a letter that criticized some of the Penn State players for having dreadlocks and tattoos.
Smith-Marsette used to have dreadlocks and he called the situation at Penn State sad.
Here are multiple interviews with the players on Tuesday:
