IOWA CITY, IA – A game in which your punter acclimates three times as many yards as your total offense is never ideal, but 1-0 is 1-0.
The Hawkeyes won their 20th season opener with Kirk Ferentz as head coach today when the Jack Rabbits of South Dakota came to town.
It was a very unorthodox performance by the Hawkeye offense to say the least. Their offensive possessions went as follows, punt, missed FG, punt, made FG, punt, punt, INT, halftime, punt, punt, fumble, punt, punt, punt, punt, end of game.
The defense of course came through by securing two safeties in the same game for the first time since 2018 against Penn State.
Many Iowa and college football fans alike had questions on what went wrong, who the starter will be going forward, and what players from all units had to say after the Hawkeyes narrowly escaped an upset from their FCS opponent.
