Hawk Fanatic week 7 predictions
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Just like the Iowa football team, our three panelists, and especially the struggling Pat Harty, needed the bye week to rest and to recover from a rocky first half of the regular season.
Harty missed on four of his five picks from the Illinois week while Dallas Jones hit on four of his five picks.
Jones has now moved into a tie for first place with Rob Howe as they both have an 18-12 record, while Harty is 16-11 and is performing more like the Iowa offense.
Pat Harty’s picks
Ohio State 27, Iowa 2: Iowa avoids a shutout when Tory Taylor pins the Buckeyes deep in their own territory, and that leads to Jack Campbell tackling Ohio State’s third-team running back in the end zone for a safety late in the fourth quarter.
Penn State 23, Minnesota 21: I predict that James Franklin will be the first head coach to enter the transfer portal.
Purdue 21, Wisconsin: 17: Charlie Jones will transfer to Wisconsin at halftime in order to show NFL scouts how well he blocks on running plays.
Rutgers 20, Indiana 17: I predict some coaching changes for both teams at halftime.
UCLA 45, Oregon 44: This game will have more speed than an all-night rave.
Last week: 1-4
Overall: 16-11
Dallas Jones’s picks
Ohio State 30, Iowa 3: Noah Fant and TJ Hockenson are not walking through that door. I do see the defense playing good enough to cover.
Penn State 27, Minnesota 13: Minnesota was my favorite to win the west, but I have abandoned ship and Happy Valley is not an easy place to win.
Purdue 24, Wisconsin 17: I like teams that score points and that is what Purdue does.
Rutgers 20, Indiana 10: Ewh, this game is stinky.
UCLA 31, Oregon 28: The ‘P’ in Pac-12 stands for points!!!
Last week: 4-1
Overall: 18-12
Rob Howe’s picks
Ohio State 34, Iowa 10: Did you know the Hawkeyes won 10 games last season?
Penn State 27, Minnesota 17: Even after a win, James Franklin will find something to complain about.
Purdue 23, Wisconsin 20: Jump Around! We’re going to Detroit for Christmas!
Rutgers 20, Indiana 13: The Hoosiers decide to leave Tom Allen in New Jersey.
Oregon 35, UCLA 31: Bruins can’t wait to face some of the B1G West offenses after this one.
Last week: 2-3
Overall: 18-12
