IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa kicker and long-time college coach Nick Quartaro made his first appearance on the Hawk Fanatic radio show and podcast on Wednesday.

Quartaro, who has joined the Hawk Fanatic staff, and will assist with coverage of Iowa football and Big Ten football, told his life story from when he started coaching at the age of 16 in his home state of New York.

Quartaro was also a kicker for Iowa in the mid-1970s under Bob Commings and he would go on to become a gradaute assistant at Iowa in 1978 before joining Dennis Green’s staff at Northwestern.

Quartaro was also the head coach at Drake from 1986-88 and he helped Bill Snyder rebuild the Kansas State program in the late 1980s and early 1999.

He retired from coaching three years ago and now lives in upstate New York.

We are excited to have Nick Quartaro on the Hawk Fanatic staff and look forward to his contributions as a writer and radio personality.

His interview starts about 15 minutes into the podcasts and lasts for about 30 minutes,
