Iowa sophomore guard Dasonte Bowen enters transfer portal
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Sophomore Dasonte Bowen has gone from being Iowa’s starting point guard at the beginning of the season to now entering the transfer portal.
The Boston native started the first eight games of the season before losing his starting position.
His playing time continued to decrease until his season was cut short by an injury that required surgery.
The 6-foot-2 Bowen appeared in 51 games over two seasons with the Hawkeyes, making nine starts.
He averaged 4.4 points and 1.3 rebounds per game this season.
Iowa will face Utah in the second-round of the National Invitation Tournament either on Saturday or Sunday in Salt Lake City.
“We are all appreciative of Dasonte’s contributions to our program the past two years,” Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery said in a statement. “He is a tremendous, high-character young man that has a bright future ahead of him in this game. My staff and I will assist Dasonte during this transition.”
