Tony Perkins down to six schools, including Indiana
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa senior guard Tony Perkins has trimmed his list of schools to which he is considering transferring to six, including his home-state Indiana Hoosiers.
The 6-foot-4 Indianapolis native announced his updated list Wednesday on his Instagram account.
In addition to Indiana, Perkins is also considering Oregon, Missouri, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Perkins averaged 14 points, 4.4 rebounds and six assists per game this past season.
He also made second-team All-Big Ten as a senior.
Perkins is among three Iowa players that have entered the transfer portal, along with fifth-year senior forward Patrick McCaffery and sophomore guard Dasonte Bowen.
Patrick McCaffery is the son of Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery.
None of the three players have spoken publicly since entering the portal, though, there are rumors that Iowa couldn’t come up with a competitive NIL package that would have enticed Perkins to stay for a fifth season.
Bowen, a Boston native, started the first eight game this past season, but then he lost his starting position and ultimately fell out of the rotation before suffering a season-ending injury.
Perkins and Patrick McCaffery are both using their free Covid year to play next season.
