Hawk Fanatic podcast: Don Patterson looks back at ISU loss and how it happened
Iowa goalkeeper Macy Enneking also makes guest appearance
IOWA CITY, Iowa – A former Hawkeye and a current Hawkeye both made guest appearances on the Hawk Fanatic radio show and podcast on Monday.
Former Iowa offensive coordinator Don Patterson made his usual Monday appearance during football season and he looks back at Iowa’s 20-19 loss to Iowa State, a game in which the Hawkeyes led 13-0 at halftime.
Don shares his thoughts on Kirk Ferentz’s decision to go for two points in the third quarter, and Don also evaluates the performance of Iowa quarterback Cade McNamara, who only passed for 19 yards in the second half.
Don also explains how and why Iowa State was able to beat the vaunted Iowa defense with some big plays, including Jaylin Noel’s 75-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter.
Don also shares his disappointment with how Western Illinois played in a 77-3 loss to Indiana this past Saturday.
Don Patterson was the Western Illinois head coach from 1999 to 2009. He also coached under Hayden Fry for 20 seasons at Iowa from 1979 to 1998.
We always appreciate Don’s unique insight.
His interview starts at the beginning of the nearly two-hour long podcast and lasts for approximately one hour.
Current Iowa goalkeeper Macy Enneking also makes a guest appearance on Monday’s show. Her interview starts just a few minutes after the end of Patterson’s interview.
The Iowa soccer team defeated Baylor 3-0 on Sunday to push its winning streak to three games.
Enneking already has been named the Big Ten goalkeeper of the Week twice this season.
This was her second guest appearance on the Hawk Fanatic radio show and podcast.
