Video: Postgame after Iowa football cruises to 42-10 win over Wisconsin
By Dallas Jones
IOWA CITY, IOWA – The first night game in Kinnick Stadium this year combined with a blackout is a tough matchup for any opponent. The Wisconsin Badgers did not prove that statement to be false tonight as Kaleb Johnson and the Iowa Hawkeyes took home a dominant 42-10 win.
Brendan Sullivan’s first start in his Hawkeye career immediately paid dividends as the run game looked as polished and powerful as ever. In the first half alone the Hawkeyes rushed for 152 yards on 25 attempts while they only attempted eight passes. In the second half they only attempted two(!!) passes, one was a seven yard TD pass from Brendan Sullivan to Jacob Gill.
By the end of the game, the Hawkeyes rushed the ball 54 times for 329 yards. Kaleb Johnson continued his historic season with 135 yards on the ground and three touchdowns, tying the single season record set by Shonn Greene (20).
Momentum was present on both side of the ball for the Hawkeyes as the Hawkeye defense held Wisconsin to less than 140 yards both passing and rushing.
At 6-3, Iowa’s chances to make it to Indianapolis might slim, but with a win over Wisconsin tonight the Hawkeye extended their streak of bowl game appearances. The Hawkeyes have made a bowl game every year since 2012 and with two games left to play, they have secured another.
