Iowa Football Adds Jacob Wallace
Hawkeyes Land '25 DB from DC
By Rob Howe
Jacob Wallace told Hawk Fanatic earlier this week that he was excited for the weekend’s Iowa official visit so he could “learn from the best DB coach in the country.” The Washington D.C.-area defensive back was referring to Hawkeye assistant coach Phil Parker.
It’s safe to say that meeting went well. Wallace announced on Sunday afternoon that he was verbally committing to Iowa. He chose the Hawkeyes ahead of reported scholarship offers from West Virginia, Temple, South Florida, several MAC programs and others.
“Me and coach Parker clicked from Day 1,” Wallace told HF after his commitment.
The head coach also did his part this weekend.
“I had a great meeting with coach (Kirk) Ferentz,” Wallace said.
The senior from Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha High pointed to Iowa’s campus and football facilities as other reasons for his decision. Freshman cornerback Jaylen Watson was his player host.
“He was chill. He and I have a similar personality,” Wallace said.
Wallace, who is unsure of his college major, looks forward to joining the Hawkeyes this summer with the rest of their 2025 recruiting class. His pledge raised the number of prep commitments in the cycle to 16.
All other members of the class are signed. Wallace will pen his national letter of intent when the late period begins on Feb. 7.
“I feel I will bring my willingness to learn and develop, my physicality, and I hope to help make plays,” Wallace said.
A three-star recruit by 247Sports, Wallace is seen as the No. 68 safety nationally and the No. 28 player overall in Maryland by the scouting service. You can watch his senior highlight video HERE.
