IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa point guard Aaliyah Guyton will return to her home state of Illinois to continue her college basketball career.
Guyton, who is from Peoria, Illinois, signed with Illinois on Saturday.
She entered the transfer portal shortly after this past season despite possibly being in position to be Iowa’s starting point guard next season as a sophomore.
Guyton, who is the daughter former Indiana star A.J. Guyton, played in 29 games this past season as a freshman with one start. She averaged 4.7 points and 1.2 rebounds per game, and she had 33 assists.
But she also had 49 turnovers.
Guyton missed almost her entire senior season of high school basketball due to a knee injury.
Iowa will add 2025 California five-star guard Addie Deal to its roster next season.
But Iowa head coach Jan Jensen still is trying to land a point guard from the transfer portal.
Former Arizona point guard Jada Williams recently visited Iowa, but she has since committed to Iowa State.
