By Hawk Fanatic
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Hawk Fanatic is thrilled to announce that Don Patterson is back for another season of talking about Hawkeye football and about college football in general.
Don has been with us for several years now and we’re so fortunate to have his unique insight.
He kicked off the 2025 season on Monday by talking about Iowa State’s 24-21 victory over Kansas State this past Saturday in Ireland, and about Iowa’s season opener against Albany this coming Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
Don also tells a story about Lee Corso, and one about Bobby Knight.
Don Patterson was a member of Hayden Fry’s Iowa coaching staff for all 20 seasons from 1979 to 1998, including serving as the offensive coordinator from 1992 to 1998 before Fry retired.
Don was also the head coach for Western Illinois from 1999 to 2009 and an assistant coach for Buffalo from 2011 to 2013 and for Connecticut in 2014 to 2015.
His segment starts at the beginning of the 90-minute podcast and lasts for about 45 minutes.
Enjoy.
