Iowa sophomore guard/forward Teagan Mallegni enters transfer portal

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa sophomore guard/forward Teagan Mallegni has entered the transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag, sources have told On3.
A 6-foot-1 native of McFarland, Wisconsin, Mallegni played in 15 games this season and averaged 1.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per game while also dealing with some health issues that impacted her availability.
Mallegni is the fourth Iowa player to enter the transfer portal since the season ended, joining guards Addie Deal, Callie Levin and Kennise Johnson.
The transfer portal re-opened on Monday and will stay open for two weeks. There were reportedly at least 750 players in the portal as of Monday morning.
A do not contact tag often means that a player already knows what school that he or she plans on transferring to from the portal.
With the loss of Mallegni, Iowa only has six scholarship players on its current roster, including sophomore forward Emely Rodriguez, who only appeared in six games this past season for undisclosed reasons.
Iowa’s current roster also has All-Big Ten junior center Ava Heiden, junior guards Chit-Chat Wright and Taylor Stremlow, sophomore center Layla Hays and sophomore forward Journey Houston.
The Hawkeyes will also add 2026 five-star forward and California native McKenna Woliczok to the roster next season.
Iowa finished 27-7 this past season under second-year head coach Jan Jensen, losing to No. 10 seed Virginia 83-75 in double overtime in the second round of the NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed in Iowa City.
