IOWA CITY, Iowa – Tommy Riordan has decided to follow in the footsteps of his older brother by committing to the Iowa football team.
The 2027 defensive lineman from Hinsdale Central High School in suburban Chicago announced his commitment to Iowa Tuesday on social media. He visited Iowa City this past weekend.
Tommy Riordan is the younger brother of 2026 Iowa offensive lineman recruit Gene Riordan.
“An outstanding ball player, can actually grow into a defensive tackle,” veteran recruiting analyst Tom Lemming said of Tommy Riordan. “Shows quick hands and feet and tenacious style of play. He never lets up and is a relentless, tough, and hard-working player just like his brother.”
Tommy Riordan, who is ranked as three-star prospect, picked Iowa over Wisconsin and Stanford and several other power four programs.
He is the sixth player to commit to Iowa’s 2027 recruiting class, joining linebackers Gavin Stecker and Braylon Bingham, offensive linemen Reilly Newman and Nate Brenneman, defensive back Jake Thies and tight end Jaxx DeJean, who is the younger brother of former Hawkeye defensive back Cooper DeJean, who now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, .
