IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa men’s basketball coach Ben McCollum has returned to the state where he won four Division II national titles to land his latest recruit.

Keller Daugherty, a 6-foot-10 power forward from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, has committed to Iowa’s 2027 recruiting class.

The three-star prospect picked Iowa over reported scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Drake, Missouri-Kansas City, Colorado State and Iona.

Daugherty averaged 14.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game this past season.

He is the first player to commit to Iowa’s 2027 class.

McCollum is used to recruiting in the state of Missouri after spending 14 seasons as the head coach at Northwest Missouri State where he won four Division II national titles.

He then led Drake to a 31-4 record in his only season as head coach in the 2024-25 season before leading Iowa to the NCAA Elite Eight in his first season as head coach this past season.

It was Iowa’s first trip to the Elite Eight since 1987.
