IOWA CITY, Iowa – A highly coveted 2027 point guard has scheduled a visit to Iowa.
Jaxson Davis, a 6-foot native of Gurnee, Illinois, will visit Iowa City on Sept. 19 according @LeagueRDY, which operates out of Chicago.
He is ranked as a four-star recruit by the 247 Composite and the 13th best point guard in the 2027 class.
Davis recently announced he has transferred to Monarch Academy in Kansas City, Kansas in Nike’s EYBL Scholastic League.
He previously played for Warren Township High School in Illinois where last season he averaged 23.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.5 steals per game. His team finished 30-4 and advanced to the Class 4A sectional semifinals after advancing to the state championship game in 2025.
Davis already has over a dozen scholarship offers from schools, which in addition to Iowa, include Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Arizona State, Illinois and Purdue among others.
Iowa has to replace All-Big Ten point guard Bennett Stirtz from this past season, and will also have to replace senior-to-be guard Kael Combs after next season.
Stirtz and Combs were both instrumental in leading Iowa to the NCAA Elite Eight this past season in Ben McCollum’s first season as head coach. It was Iowa’s first trip to the Elite Eight since 1987.
Iowa added guard Ty’Reek Coleman from the transfer portal in April. He played for Illinois State last season and will have three seasons of eligibility.
