IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa women’s basketball players Ava Heiden and Chit-Chat Wright will join P. Sue Beckwith, MD, Head Women’s Basketball Coach Jan Jensen at Big Ten Women’s Basketball Media Day, the conference announced Wednesday.

Big Ten Women’s Basketball Media Day will take place Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. Coaches and student-athletes from all 18 Big Ten women’s basketball programs will participate in Wednesday’s event. Big Ten Network will provide live coverage beginning at 11 a.m. (CT).

Jensen is entering her 27th season with the Iowa women’s basketball program and her third as head coach. She became the fastest head coach in program history to reach 50 wins, accomplishing the feat in her first two seasons.

Iowa finished the 2025-26 season with a 27-7 overall record and a 15-3 mark in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, their eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth, and extended their streak to 10 straight 20-win seasons.

Heiden earned first-team All-Big Ten honors from both the coaches and media last season and garnered honorable mention All-America recognition from the AP, USBWA and WBCA. The junior center averaged 18 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 64.1 percent from the field. Heiden led all Power Four players in scoring improvement at +13.0 points per game and scored in double figures against all 17 Big Ten opponents.

Wright earned third-team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and honorable mention recognition from the media in her first season as a Hawkeye. The junior guard totaled 387 points and 138 assists after taking over Iowa’s starting point guard position. Her 138 assists ranked seventh on Iowa’s sophomore single-season list.
