Hawk Fanactic podcast: Don Patterson makes his Monday appearance
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa offensive coordinator Don Patterson made his usual Monday appearance during football season on the Hawk Fanatic radio show and podcast, and there was certainly plenty to discuss.
Patterson looked back at Iowa’s 27-10 win at Rutgers this past Saturday in Piscataway, New Jersey and ahead to this coming Saturday’s game against No. 4 Michigan at Kinnick Stadium.
He encouraged fans to arrive early for the 11 a.m. kickoff to help create a hostile environment at Kinnick Stadium where Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh hasn’t won as a head coach or as a former Michigan quarterback.
Patterson, who was also the head coach at Western Illinois from 1999 to 2009, raved about the Iowa defense, saying it could be Kirk Ferentz’s best defense in 24 seasons as head coach.
Patterson also talked about the improvements made on offense, but he said Iowa quarterback Spencer Petras has to do a better job of throwing to his wide receivers when they’re open.
Petras completed just one pass to a receiver in the Rutgers game, and it only gained five yards to Arland Bruce.
Patterson’s interview lasts for one hour and starts at the beginning of the two-hour podcast.
