IOWA CITY, Iowa – On a day Texas recruits committing to Iowa, more good news came out of a state where Iowa does not usually recruit heavily.

Murrieta, Calif., native Maurice Bell joined fellow receiver Gavin Holmes and defensive back Matt Hankins, both natives of Texas, as the third recruit to commit to Iowa in a matter of hours on Monday.

Bell had previously told AllHawkeyes.com that he was down to Iowa, Colorado and Washington State.

Bell became the fifth recruit in two days to commit to Iowa. He is the 15th overall commit to Iowa’s 2017 class.

The five most recent commits have come from all over the map.

Three-star receiver Brandon Smith, a native of Lake Cormorant, Miss., and defensive back Camron Harrell, a native of Bradley, Ill., announced their commitments on Sunday.
