’17 RB Prince Walker High on Hawks After Visit
Prince Walker’s recruitment is in its infancy. That said, the Iowa Hawkeyes are off to a strong start with the Class of 2017 running back.
"If I were to get an offer from them, they would definitely be one of my top schools, even though it’s still early. I really loved (Thursday’s campus visit)," he said.
The Lombard (IL) Montini Catholic sophomore saw the Iowa facilities, watched practice and spoke with coaches. He’d already visited Illinois and Western Michigan this offseason.
"The (Iowa) weight room, locker room, and players lounge were amazing. I loved them," he said.
The Hawkeyes held their 14th of 15 spring workouts on Thursday. They’re set to wrap things up on Saturday with a public event at Kinnick Stadium.
"I thought it was pretty good. I wish I could’ve seen a padded practice. But from what I’ve seen, I could tell they have great practices," the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Walker said.
Walker said he met with head coach Kirk Ferentz, running backs coach Chris White and recruiting coordinator Seth Wallace.
"They all told me they watched my highlights and were very impressed. They want me to come back out and go to a camp this summer," Walker said.
Walker said he has set up three summer camps so far. He’s scheduled to be at Arizona on June 5, Iowa on June 13 and Cincinnati on July 1.
"I’ll probably schedule more," he said.
Walker reports running the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds. He is a member of the Montini Catholic track team.
As a sophomore, Walker rolled up 1,534 all-purpose yards, which included 1,083 (6.0 per carry) on the ground. He totaled 19 touchdowns (16 rushing).
