Florida CB Talks Iowa Offer, Potential Visit
Iowa jumped in with a scholarship offer for Michael Hampton last week. Its kept the heat on the Tampa (FL) cornerback ever since.
"They’ve been on me a lot. I talk to Coach (Chris) White like every day. He’s real cool to talk to," Hampton said.
Hampton is a rising prospect out of Hillsborough High. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder already reports scholarship offers from Florida International, Indiana, Marshall, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Temple and Virginia.
"I’m looking for a school with strong academics where I have a good relationship with coaches and players. I’m also interested in a winning tradition," he said.
Hampton said his recruitment is wide open and he’s looking to commit on signing day in February. He likes what he’s hearing from the Hawkeyes.
"I don’t know much about them. I still have to do more research but so far their coaches are cool," he said. "(White) told me they like my size and style of play. They feel like I can be a good fit because I can come in and be that corner that locks up the top receivers."
Hampton said he will camp at Florida State and Auburn this summer. He’s yet to decide where else he’ll visit.
Hampton said he and Gibsonton (FL) East Bay High safety K.J. Sails are talking about visiting Iowa together in July.. Sails also reports a Hawkeye offer.
"I’m not sure where I’m going to officially visit yet but getting to Iowa with K.J. this summer is a possibility," Hampton said.
Hampton said he’d like to major in Business Management when he gets to college.
