Extensive Hawkeye PTL Playoff Highlights
NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa – The Prime Time League playoffs tipped off Thursday night here at the recreation center. One game was decided on a buzzer beater and the greatest margin of victory in the three contests was 11 points.
Iowa freshman Andrew Fleming scored 24 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and dished out six assists in his team’s last-season, 102-99 victory against fellow Hawkeye newcomers Brandon Hutton (32 points, nine rebounds) and Dale Jones (28 points, 14 rebounds).
Iowa teammates Peter Jok (28 points, 14 rebounds, three assists) and Ahmad Wagner (20 points, 12 rebounds) led their squad to a 111-102 win against a unit featuring Hawkeyes Mike Gesell (13 points, three assists, two rebounds) and Christian Williams (16 points, seven rebounds, two assists).
In the late game, Iowa’s Jarrod Uthoff (31 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists) and Dom Uhl (27 points, 10 rebounds, four assists) powered their team to a 103-92 triumph against a group led by Anthony Clemmons (24 points, nine assists, five rebounds).
The PTL playoffs resume Sunday with the semifinals. Fleming’s team plays the top-seed outfit led by Adam Woodbury, which had a bye Thursday. Jok and Wagner’s squad faces off against Uthoff and Uhl in the other game.
The winners will meet Thursday, July 30, for the championship.
