IOWA CITY, Iowa – When Iowa Quarterback C.J. Beathard found time to throw during Saturday’s annual Kids Day practice, the defense often leaned on Cornerback Desmond King to make sure no damage occurred down the field. More often than not, the true junior came through.

King moves into a larger leadership role with graduation losses. He certainly knows how to set an example.

The Detroit product frequently was locked onto top receiver Tevaun Smith Saturday. Smith found little room to operate.
