Bohannon Pledges to Hawks
Iowa landed its third commitment in the 2016 Class Friday morning.
It’s a name with which Hawkeyes fans will be familiar.
Linn-Mar and Martin Brothers point guard Jordan Bohannon is the newest Iowa pledge. He’s the son of former quarterback Gordy Bohannon.
"I want to thank all the schools that stayed with me throughout this process. But, I’ve decided to attend the University of Iowa. I’ve always dreamed of playing for my home state school and do it with a great group of guys. I am looking forward the future and I can’t wait to be a Hawkeye," Jordan Bohannon said.
Bohannon led Linn-Mar in scoring (17.8 PPG), rebounding (4.6 RPG) and assists (4.2 APG) as a junior. He connected on 77 of 182 three-point attempts (42.3 percent) and 63 of 67 free throws (94.0).
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Bohannon officially visited Lehigh last week and was scheduled to do the same to DePaul next weekend. Both schools had offered scholarships.
"He’s a great kid from a great family," Martin Brothers Coach Hank Huddleson said. "They are getting a very high IQ point guard who can really shoot it from anywhere."
Bohannon joins fellow Martin Brothers players Cordell Pemsl and Ryan Kriener as pledges in Iowa’s ’16 Class. The Hawkeyes have one more scholarship available to it in the cycle.
