AH TV: Hawks Talk North Texas Domination
IOWA CITY, Iowa – For the first time in 13 years, the Iowa football team scored 60 points in a game. The number came at the expense of North Texas and its Coach, Dan McCarney, an Iowa alum.
The Hawkeyes started fast and never slowed down in a 62-16 domination of the visitors. Running Back Jordan Canzeri ran for 115 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries, receiver Tevaun Smith caught four passes for 115 yards and a score and quarterback C.J. Beathard completed his first 15 passes before finishing 18-21 for 278 yards and a pair of touchdown tosses.
Not to be outdone, Iowa’s defense limited the Mean Green to 7 of 21 on third-down attempts and only allowed a touchdown following a Hawkeye turnover deep in UNT territory. Linebackers Josey Jewell and Bo Bower, who are roommates, highlighted the day on that side of the ball with a pair of Pick-6s.
