AH TV: Iowa Confirms Top 25 Vote for McCarney
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Dan McCarney believed Iowa was a Top 25 team last week. Now, the North Texas head coach is convinced.
McCarney, an Iowa City native and Iowa graduate, voted for the Hawkeyes in the Coaches poll last week. He said after his team was rolled, 62-16, by them here at Kinnick Stadium that he’d do it again.
"I was on a number of those kind of teams at Iowa as a coach. I coached against them many times when they had one of those kinds of teams. I think they have that. I truly do. I think the physicality of the team, the play-makers, the return game, punters, kickers, tremendous quarterback that really knows how to execute, good backs," he said.
"We were plus two on turnovers at halftime then all of a sudden it’s minus one at the end of the game and two of them are picks for touchdowns. They have that big-play ability, big-play talent on their football team. I was just really, really impressed."
