Swann Updates Where Things Stand with Iowa
Greenwood (IN) Center Grove High wrapped up a perfect regular season last weekend. Defensive Tackle Jovan Swann has played a big role in the success.
On his senior season has been where Swann (6-3, 265) mostly has focused his attention. Recruiting has taken a back seat.
Swann reports scholarship offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Carolina, Northwestern, Purdue, Stanford and Vanderbilt, among others.
The Hawkeyes have continued to push hard for Swann’s commitment. He said they were sending a coach, mostly likely Jim Reid, to Center Grove on Tuesday.
"I’m still talking with them," Swann said.
Swann unofficially visited Iowa twice during the spring. At that time, he placed the Hawkeyes in his Top 5.
Swann, who wants to study Chemistry in college, picked up an offer from Stanford in August. He officially visited Palo Alto earlier this month and proclaimed the Cardinal the leader for his services.
Asked if Iowa was still high on his list of prospective schools, Swann replied: "I would say they are definitely still a valued offer."
Swann has recorded 48 tackles (42 solo) with five sacks and a forced fumble through nine games this fall. As a junior, he posted 49 stops (11 for loss) with seven sacks.
With top-ranked Center Grove headed to the playoffs, Swann has put his recruitment on hold.
"I have no other officials planned to date," he said.
