IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa men’s basketball team opened the season with a 99-73 exhibition victory against Division II Sioux Falls Thursday night here at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Hawkeyes led just 46-40 at halftime against a team that was 8-21 a year ago. The slow start disappointed the players but they were pleased with their effort after the intermission.
