IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa women’s basketball team tipped off a big weekend for the school’s athletic department Friday night in it’s season opener against North Dakota at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The men’s team followed the ladies with the wrestling team and football squad scheduled for Saturday.

The Hawkeye women, who return to action on Sunday before the men play, started things off right with an 83-61 victory against North Dakota after leading by just two points at halftime.
