AH-TV: McCaffery, players talk about defeating the Gophers
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The fourth-ranked Iowa men’s basketball team moved into sole possession of first place in the Big Ten by defeating Minnesota 75-71 on Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The Hawkeyes entered the game favored by 19.5 points, but the Gophers refused to wilt. Minnesota cut the deficit to two points in the second half, but couldn’t get any closer.
Iowa improved to 20-5 overall and 11-2 in the Big Ten, while Minnesota fell to 6-19 and 0-13 in the conference. This marks the fourth consecutive season that Iowa has won at least 20 games under head coach Fran McCaffery.
