Peter Jok will return for his senior season
IOWA CITY, Iowa – After testing the NBA waters, Peter Jok has decided to finish what he started as an Iowa basketball player.
The 6-foot-6 Jok announced Friday on Twitter that he would return to Iowa for his senior season, much to the delight of Iowa coach Fran McCaffery.
"The entire experience has been beneficial to Peter in assessing where he stands heading into his final college season,” McCaffery said in a release. “He has learned a great deal in regard to this process and his experience will prove valuable a year from now. We are excited that Peter will be a part of our team in the coming season and we anticipate his senior leadership playing a key role for us.”
Jok made second-team all-Big Ten as a junior this past season and was Iowa’s second leading scorer.
He decided to explore the NBA draft under a new rule that gives a prospect who doesn’t hire an agent 10 days after the NBA combine to withdraw his name from draft consideration.
"I’m excited to be returning for my senior season and leading our team," Jok said in a release. “This has been an invaluable learning experience for my career, and I appreciate all the support I have received from Coach McCaffery and the entire staff.”
Jok is the only returning starter for Iowa, which has made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
