AH-TV: Kirk Ferentz, Iowa players meet the press
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Kirk Ferentz and seven members of the Iowa football team met with the media on Wednesday to discuss their approach to summer workouts and more.
All-America cornerback Desmond King and all-Big Ten quarterback C.J. Beathard were among the players who were interviewed at the Iowa Football Complex. They both talked about trying to improve individually and about their role as team leaders.
Senior cornerback Greg Mabin also told reporters that he is healthy and ready to go after missing spring practice because of a shoulder injury.
Senior defensive lineman Faith Ekakitie also talked about the importance of finishing what you start. A former 4-star recruit from Canada, Ekakitie has played sparingly as a reserve, but he could be a part of a three-man rotation at defensive tackle this season with Jaleel Johnson and Nathan Bazata.
Ekakitie has stayed at Iowa during a time when players are transferring at an alarming rate. He said his parents raised him to finish what he started. He also praised the Iowa coaches, and the University of Iowa as a whole, for making his college experience worthwhile and enjoyable.
Ferentz updated the roster and praised his team for its academic success during the spring semester.
Here is part of Ferentz’s interview on video, along with multiple player interviews.
