Friday’s podcast looks at the 10 worst Iowa FB teams and drifts
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Our latest podcast is designed to make you appreciate what you have now with regard to the Iowa football program.
The Hawkeyes are coming off a 12-win season and are picked to defend their Big Ten West Division title under veteran head coach Kirk Ferentz.
The circumstances were much different when Ferentz took over at Iowa in 1999. The team finished 1-10 in his debut season and was just 3-8 the year before in Hayden Fry’s last season as head coach.
Ferentz has since built Iowa into a solid program in which making a bowl game is almost to be expected.
The times haven’t always been this good, though.
Iowa has had some lean decades in football, let alone seasons. The 1940s, the 1960s and the 1970s all left much to be desired.
So to help you appreciate what you have now, we discuss 10 of the worst teams in Iowa history.
We also do some weird drifting to unrelated topics, even by our standards. And yes, The Cowsills are mentioned again in this podcast, along with another musical group whose name might surprise or disgust you.
So if you’re in the mood for a Hawkeye podcast with a slightly different twist, give this a listen.
