2018 LB Cameron McGrone excited by Iowa offer
IOWA CITY, Iowa – High school junior linebacker Cameron McGrone never has been to Iowa City, but that could soon change because he likes the Iowa football program.
And the Iowa coaches like him as they showed recently when McGrone received a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes.
The 3-star linebacker from Indianapolis, Ind., was offered by Iowa last week and then immediately put the Hawkeyes among his favorites on a list that includes Nebraska, Northwestern, Indiana, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio).
"When I received the offer it was truly a blessing and an honor," McGrone said Monday. "Iowa is a very highly looked upon school for football, so to get the offer was amazing. They are definitely one of my top schools as of now.
"I like their tenacity on the field and the way they play for one another."
Though he is listed as an outside linebacker, the Iowa coaches apparently like McGrone’s versatility.
"They like my aggressiveness and what I can bring as a total athlete to the team," McGrone said.
McGrone said he still is early in the recruiting process and does not have any favorites at this point. He also wants to visit Iowa this fall.
