The Newark, N.J. native de-committed from Rutgers after taking an official visit from Iowa, and until recently had been committed to Minnesota until de-committing over the weekend.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Smith-Marsette is the 22nd player to sign to Iowa's 2017 class and the sixth player to join the class in three days.
Although listed as an athlete, Smith-Marsette was recruited to Iowa as a receiver, a position of need heading to next season, and is the fourth at that position to join the class.
