D.J Johnson overwhelmed by Iowa offer

IOWA CITY, Iowa – D.J. Johnson has multiple scholarship offers to play college football, but the one he received from Iowa on Wednesday caused quite a reaction.
"It feels great," said Johnson, a native of Indianapolis. "I almost started crying. That's a huge accomplish for me and I was very excited to hear the news."
The 6-foot, 170-pound Johnson doesn't have any favorites at this time among a list of offers that include Purdue, Cincinnati, Western Michigan, Toledo, Northern Illinois, Ball State and Bowling Green.
However, that could change after Johnson attends Iowa's next junior day event on March 5 in Iowa City.
"In all honesty, I can't say (any favorites)," said Johnson, who is being recruited as a cornerback. "I haven't been on many visits and haven't visited Iowa yet, either. But it's a great offer and I'm very excited to have received a scholarship from Iowa. I'll be there on a visit March 5th."
Johnson doesn't know much about the Iowa program, but he is aware of Iowa's success in developing defensive backs under veteran head coach Kirk Ferentz.
Desmond King won the 2015 Jim Thorpe Award, which goes to the nation's top collegiate defensive back, and twice made first-team all-Big Ten as a cornerback. King was a senior this past season.
"I don't know much, but their football program is really good," Johnson said. "I know they've had some success with a lot of corners in the past so that's something that stands out big time."
Johnson said he wants to take as many visits as possible before making a decision.
