Iowa a favorite for Maxwell Worship

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Maxwell Worship has heard a lot about the Iowa football program from a reliable source since receiving a scholarship offer on Thursday.
Worship, a native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is a close friend of 2017 Iowa running back recruit Kyshaun Bryan and has been following Iowa since before Bryan signed a national letter of intent with the Hawkeyes on Feb. 1.
"Kyshaun is a childhood friend of mine," Worship said Monday. "We’ve been friends since fourth grade. We played on the same little league football team. He played a year older but he’s been my big brother. He sees himself having a lot of success at Iowa. He really likes Iowa. He hasn’t really recruited me that much but he has recruited me and I’m sure he’ll be recruiting me even more moving forward.
"It felt great. It felt really, really good. Iowa’s been a school I’ve been looking at for the past two years. I really like Iowa. Being a prestigious Big Ten school and how far they’ve come these past two years and where they’re going I like Iowa a lot. I don’t have any favorites but Iowa is up there.”
Worship, a three-star safety according to Rivals, is intrigued by Iowas success withg sending defensive backs to the National Football League under head coach Kirk Ferentz.
Cornerback Desmond King is expected to join the list after using up his eligibility this past season. King won the 2015 Jim Thorpe Award, which goes to the nation;s top collegiate defensive back, and twice made first-team all-Big Ten.
"It definitely stands out to me," Worship said. "Any way I can get the tools and the skills to get to the next level that’s definitely a big factor to me. I’ve been watching Desmond King a lot. He’s a defensive back that I like to study.”
Iowa linebackers coach Seth Wallace saw enough on film to decide that the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Worship could be a successful player at Iowa.
"They haven’t really gone deep into detail about what they like about my game," Worship said. "They’ve told me they really like me just from watching my film and then hearing about me from Kyshaun and my coach as well. Coach Wallace is the one that’s the recruiting me and he sees me being a great player at Iowa.”
Worship said he has no timetable for making a college decision. He would like to attend a camp at Iowa this coming summer.
