Josey Jewell and Brandon Snyder out against Northwestern
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team will face Northwestern with a depleted defense on Saturday.
News broke this morning that All-Big Ten linebacker Josey Jewell and starting free safety Brandon Snyder will miss the game due to injuries.
Jewell leads the Big Ten with 70 tackles while Snyder made his season debut against Illinois on Oct. 7 and returned an interception 89 yards for a touchdown during Iowa's 45-16 win.
Snyder missed the first five games this season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
He returned from the injury in less than six months against Illinois but apparently has suffered a setback.
Senior walk-on Kevin Ward is expected to start in place of Jewell, while junior Jake Gervase will replace Snyder.
