AH week 8 picks: Floyd will be staying in Iowa City
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team is struggling and desperate for a win, but you'd never know it from our three-person panel.
We all have Iowa defeating Minnesota on Saturday, because for one, the game is at Kinnick Stadium, but also because we're homers.
Heck Tyler Devine is the great, great nephew of former Hawkeye great Aubrey Devine and has lived in Iowa City for practically his whole life. Tyler was born to be a homer.
But on the other hand, Minnesota is hardly an elite opponent, especially on offense where the Gophers are ranked 12th in the Big Ten in passing offense (158.9) and 11th in total offense (346.9) under first-year coach P.J. Fleck.
And as mentioned before, the game will be played at Kinnick Stadium, and at night with kickoff scheduled for 5:35 p.m. The game will be televised by Fox Sports 1.
Pat Harty
Iowa 27, Minnesota 23: I'm hearing that Floyd of Rosedale is secretly pulling for Iowa because he considers P.J. Fleck and his catch phrases like "Row the Boat" a little creepy.
Texas Christian 27, Iowa State 21: I actually had to think about this pick for a while, which speasks volumes about what is happening in Ames right now under Matt Campbell.
Ohio State 34, Penn State 31: To sort of borrow a line from Tyler, trying to pick the winner of this game is like choosing between Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.
Notre Dame 30, North Carolina State 24: Brian Kelly celebrates the win by being pleasant for a few minutes.
Oklahoma State 72, West Virginia 63: Mike Gundy celebrates the win by shaving his head and screaming, "I'm a man, I'm fifty."
Last week: 2-3
Overall: 22-13

Iowa 17, Minnesota 10: Iowa's offense kind of comes alive as it wins another barn burner under the lights in Kinnick Stadium.
Iowa State 45, Texas Christian 44: Matt Campbell plants a flag with his face on it at midfield after the win. He is then extended an offer to be Nick Saban's successor at Alabama.
Penn State 31, Ohio State 27: Trying to pick this game is like trying to pick between Kate Beckinsale and Jennifer Aniston.
North Carolina State 24, Notre Dame 20: I rarely pick Notre Dame to win, and if I do, someone should be concerned.
Oklahoma State 34, West Virginia 28: I have three cousins that went to Oklahoma State, so I guess I want them to be happy.
Last week: 3-2
Overall: 23-12

Iowa 20 Minnesota 16: The locker room is already in P.J. Fleck's head, but I still don't think Minnesota has the guns for Iowa at night inside Kinnick. Fleck and the boys row their boats back to Minneapolis with an L.
TCU 40 Iowa State 30: Matt Campbell has the Cyclones in order and in the AP Top 25 for the first time in a while. However, TCU has been one of the surprise teams and I love their defensive line. Cy gives it their all, but fall just short in Ames.
Penn State 27 Ohio State 21: This game has OSU as a 7-point favorite and I have no idea why. I believe the Nittany Lions have more firepower and the only thing going in the Buckeyes' favor is the fact that it's at home. Give me the Nittany Lions in Columbus.
Notre Dame 27 NC State 20: Notre Dame is clicking. They've demolished Michigan State and then beat a good USC team pretty handily. They keep it rolling on Saturday by beating the Wolfpack.
West Virginia 33 Oklahoma State 31: Will Grier and the Mountaneers have a nice squad. They've won a couple in a row since falling to TCU and I like them at home, on national television. It's a close one, but I like WVU.
Last week: Dylan had a bye week
Overall: 18-7
