Cedar Falls linebacker Jack Campbell has Iowa on top

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three-star Cedar Falls linebacker Jack Campbell still is early in the recruiting process, but the Iowa football team has made an impression on him.
Campbell, a 2019 prospect, has Iowa atop his list with Iowa State. He also has a scholarship offer from Northern Iowa.
“Iowa is probably number one with Iowa State right now,” Campbell said. “I’m kind of 50-50 right now.”
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Campbell likes Iowa’s hard-nosed style of play and penchant for developing professional-caliber talent.
“They always produce good linebackers,” Campbell said. “They’re tough. They’re tough, smart and physical like they say. And they produce a lot of NFL talent.”
Campbell was on campus to witness Iowa’s 55-24 blowout of then third-ranked Ohio State on Saturday and was blown away by the Hawkeyes’ performance.
“It was crazy,” Campbell said. “Just them beating that team was crazy.”
Campbell said the Iowa coaching staff thinks he has the energy and leadership skills to be productive at the college level.
“They told me they like me because I have good leadership skills and that I’m high energy, I have a high motor,” Campbell said.
Although his offer list is short right now, that could soon change for Campbell.
He has been receiving interest from multiple Big Ten teams, as well as Stanford.
“I’ve talked to Michigan State a little bit,” Campbell said. “I’ve talked to Indiana, Minnesota and Penn State a little bit. Stanford has sent me letters and stuff. I might go try to see Michigan State but I’m not sure yet.”
Campbell also said that he’d like to make his college decision sooner rather than later.
“I think I might go with this spring,” Campbell said. “It’s a little early but I think that’ll be the best choice for me so I can have my summer to relax with my family because this will be the last summer before I have to report to college.”
