Council Bluffs linebacker Cameron Baker excited by Iowa offer

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Council Bluffs outside linebacker Cameron Baker waited a long time for a scholarship offer from Iowa.
His wait is now over after Baker, a 2019 recruit, received an offer on Friday.
“It’s a pretty big deal,” Baker said. “I’ve been waiting for an offer for a while and I’ve been working pretty hard so to finally get an offer my family is pretty proud of me. It feels great.”
Iowa is the first school to offer Baker a scholarship, and the 6-foot-2, 210-pounder said it makes him feel like a priority.
“That’s definitely going to be one thing,” Baker said. “The first offer is always, to me, a special one because I think they want you pretty bad if they’re the first ones to offer you.”
Iowa defensive line coach Reese Morgan told Baker that he has the type of character that fits in well with the Iowa program.
“Coach Morgan said that he admired my character, the way I keep my composure and talk to my teammates on the field,” Baker said. “He talked to a lot of people around my town and they said I’m a pretty nice person. He said that I was a football player and he would like me to be on the team.”
Baker said he also is being recruited by Iowa State and will soon visit Ames. He said he has no current plans to visit Iowa in the near future.
Baker also said that he is in no hurry to end his recruiting process.
“I just feel like I’ll make my decision whenever I feel ready or comfortable with what school I want to go to during my senior,” Baker said. “I just want to have time to think about all of my potential options for the future.”
