AH TV: Iowa players talk about Pinstripe Bowl, Yankee Stadium

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team faces many challenges in its Pinstripe Bowl matchup against Boston College on Dec. 27.

One of those challenges is playing a football game in Yankee Stadium in the winter.

Sophomore quarterback Nate Stanley said that he hasn’t played football in a baseball stadium before but is looking forward to playing in such a historic venue.

“I have not (played in a baseball stadium before),” Stanley said. “It’s cool. Being able to play in a stadium with an organization with so much history like the Yankees is pretty exciting.”

The stadium presents extra challenges for junior kicker Miguel Recinos.

Recinos, a native of Mason City, Iowa, has questions about the playing surface, but thinks he’ll be fine as long as precipitation holds off during the game.

“One thing I am intrigued to see is what type of shape the field is in,” Recinos said. “Anytime you roll a field over another field that can be a little sketchy.

“Hopefully it won’t snow. As far as the wind, I can’t imagine it will be anything stronger than what we face in Kinnick.”
