IOWA CITY, Iowa – Walled Lake, Mich. receiver Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen was one of over a dozen recruits to visit the Iowa football program on Saturday.
The visit turned out to be a special one for Yaseen, as the 2020 prospect was offered a scholarship by Iowa.
Iowa is now among the favorites for Yaseen after the visit.
“It feels great,” Yaseen said. “I’m very excited. Iowa is a good program with a good coaching staff. The facilities look great. We took a tour around the building. It was amazing.
“It’s a great school, I appreciate the offer. I’m only a sophomore so we’ll see. I’m not really sure right now at this point but they are definitely among the top to consider.”
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Yaseen made the trip with his teammate, 2019 quarterback Sam Johnson, who also received an offer.
Yaseen said that he and Johnson have spoken about the possibility of playing together in college.
“It’s great,” Yaseen said. “Actually we took the trip together and we are excited about it.
“We both share Indiana as well as a few others and now Iowa so I’m sure that will come to our attention once again.”
While on campus, Yaseen got the opportunity to talk to Iowa quarterbacks coach Ken O’Keefe and head coach Kirk Ferentz.
“I talked to coach O’Keefe mainly about football related stuff,” Yaseen said. “He used to coach for the Miami Dolphins so we talked about his past experiences with the NFL.
“I also talked with coach Ferentz, he was the one who offered.”
Yaseen also has offers from Iowa State, Minnesota, Indiana, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Northern Illinois.
