IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three-star running back Tyler Goodson wasted no time in taking an official visit to Iowa.

The visit proved to be fruitful for both Iowa and Goodson, as he now has the Hawkeyes among his top three schools.

"My visit to Iowa was great," Goodson said. "It was definitely not what I expected. The campus culture is really nice, great players that I really enjoyed being around, and really enjoyed the coaching staff.

"I have eliminated most of the schools I have at this point. Of the visits I have taken Iowa is definitely in my top three. I have some more visits to take and a list of top five but I am not ready to release that just yet."

The 5-foot-10, 192-pound Goodson is focused on football first and chose to take his official visit to Iowa because he would like to make his senior high school season his main focus instead of recruiting.

"I am trying to have my decision made by the beginning of my senior season," Goodson said. "With that in mind I am trying to get in as many visits as I can. Once spring ball starts for me next week that is my primary focus. Iowa was a school I really wanted to explore so I wanted my first official to be there."

Iowa doesn't often get recruits out of Georgia, but has done so in its last two recruiting classes.

Defensive back Trey Creamer was part of the 2017 class, while Goodson's former high school teammate Jayden McDonald will join Iowa as a linebacker this fall.

Goodson, a native of Suwanee, Ga., enjoys new experiences, so distance from home is not a factor to him.

"I am a pretty outgoing guy," Goodson said. "I like to travel to different places, and meet new people. What is most important to me is finding the place that feels like home and distance is not a factor."

One big factor that will impact Goodson's decision in the quality of the offensive line.

Iowa is known for producing top tier offensive lineman and Goodson has done his research on the past, present and future of Iowa's offensive line.

"That is very important wherever I decide to go," Goodson said. "A running back is only as good as his offensive line.

"So not only am I looking at the history but the current line and future recruits that have committed."
