IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team may have lost to Wisconsin on Saturday, but the game day experience still made an impression on three-star receiver David Baker.

Baker, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., was impressed by the support from Hawkeye fans throughout the evening.

“It was incredible,” Baker said. “I walked around through all of the festivities before the game and said to my mom ‘There’s no way (the fans will) be like this in three more hours’ and they were times 10.”

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Baker also got the chance to better acquaint himself him the Iowa coaches and players.

“The people really stood out,” Baker said. “I like how real everyone is.”

As a 2020 prospect, Baker is still early in the recruiting process but already has scholarship offers from Iowa, Ball State, Indiana, Michigan and Purdue.

Three of those schools currently stand above the rest in his mind.

“I wouldn’t really say I have favorites,” Baker said. “But I have the best relationships with Indiana, Iowa and Purdue.”

Downs with the Iowa offer: Four-star receiver Josh Downs was not on the Iowa campus over the weekend but received a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes on Sunday.

The 5-foot-9, 160-pound Downs was excited to add to his impressive offer list.

“It feels great to have an opportunity to play at a prestigious program like Iowa,” Downs said.

Downs, a native of Suwanee, Ga., said he does not have any favorites among his offer list that includes Michigan and Ohio State, among other.

“At this point it’s fair game,” Downs said. “New opportunities come up all the time.”

Downs, a 2020 prospect, is high school teammates with 2019 Iowa running back commit Tyler Goodson.

Goodson has been sharing his knowledge of the Iowa program with Downs.

“He said it’s amazing,” Downs said. “He’s the one who told me the offer is coming. He talked to me today and said he’s going to be working hard to get me to Kinnick.”

He also has offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Colorado State, Kansas State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Oregon, Rutgers, Syracuse and West Virginia.
