IOWA CITY, Iowa – Bryan Sanborn’s last name may ring a bell to people that follow Iowa football recruiting.
Sanborn, a 2021 linebacker whose brother Jack was heavily recruited by Iowa, received a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes on Friday.
“It feels great,” Bryan Sanborn said. “It’s a team that I’ve watched many times on television and to have an opportunity to play for them is amazing.”
Jack Sanborn, who was a four-star linebacker in the 2018 class, chose Wisconsin over Iowa and many other offers.
Bryan Sanborn, native of Lake Zurich, Ill., has an offer from Wisconsin, as well as Eastern Illinois, Vanderbilt and Western Michigan.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Bryan Sanborn thinks it would be special to play with his older brother in college, but he also wants to explore his options and make his own decision.
“I mean, that would be a very cool thing to play with your brother at a high level at Wisconsin,” Bryan Sanborn said. “But I’m going to make my own decision on the school that I want to play at and that I feel most comfortable with.”
Even though his brother was recruited by Iowa, Bryan Sanborn is not very familiar with Iowa but is eager to learn more.
“I didn’t really have a relationship with the coaches when they recruited Jack because I didn’t go on any visits with him,” Bryan Sanborn said. “(I want to learn) what they look for in their players and future players and what they are all about there.
"Something that stands out to me is that they are prideful on playing hard at all times."
