IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa women's basketball team's storybook season came to an end on Monday night.
No. 2 seed Iowa lost to No. 1 seed Baylor 85-53 in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
The Hawkeyes finished with a 29-7 record and became just the fourth team in program history to reach the Elite Eight.
It was also the first time in head coach Lisa Bluder's 19 seasons that Iowa advanced past the Sweet 16.
A throng of fans greeted the team as it arrived back in Iowa City on Tuesday afternoon.
Dozens of fans gathered at the Iowa River Landing for photo and autograph opportunities with the Iowa players and coaches.
Senior center Megan Gustafson drew most of the attention at the event.
Gustafson, a native of Port Wing, Wis., became Iowa's all-time leading scorer earlier in the season.
