Three-star tight end Luke Lachey has Iowa near top of his list

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three-star tight end Luke Lachey was kind of an exception to a rule during a weekend where the Iowa football team received four verbal commitments in its 2020 recruiting class.
Lachey, a native of Grandview Heights, Ohio, didn’t pledge for the Hawkeyes but does have them among his favorites after his official visit.
“I’d say they are near the top of my list,” Lachey said.
During his visit the 6-foot-7, 220-pound Lachey enjoyed the opportunity to establish a closer bond with his fellow recruits, as well as the Iowa players and coaching staff.
“My overall impression of the trip was that it was great,” Lachey said. “The players and coaches are all great people and that impressed me a lot. The weight room was insane as well.”
One of the recruits that Lachey got to know well during the visit was Iowa quarterback commit Deuce Hogan.
Hogan, a native of Grapevine, Texas, was the first player to commit to Iowa’s 2020 class and has since been doing a great deal of recruiting himself.
“Deuce is a great kid and we became friends over the weekend,” Lachey said. “He’s definitely a great leader and is a great person to have in a class.”
Lachey indicated that he’s not looking to be the latest in the surge of commitments to the 2020 class, but that he could make a decision before his senior season begins.
He also has Power Five offers from Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisiana State, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Iowa currently has 18 players committed to its 2020 recruiting class.
