AH TV: Senior leadership key for Iowa as its tries to get back on winning track
IOWA CITY, Iowa – As a senior and a starter for the Iowa football team, cornerback Michael Ojemudia has earned the right to be considered a leader.
Senior leadership is an important part of any team’s success and Ojemudia is focusing on that role this week as Iowa tries to rebound from back-to-back losses to Michigan and Penn State.
The regular season is only half over and there still are plenty of challenges out there, including Saturday’s homecoming game against Purdue.
“As we’ve seen in years before, it’s a long season and a lot of crazy things happen throughout the season,” Ojemudia said Tuesday. “So if we stay the course and just prepare for every game like it’s statement game, which this game is, I think the moral in locker room, dudes are still hungry and so I think there’s going to be a lot of motivation and a lot of hunger this week.”
The Boilermakers have won the last two games in the series and they pose a huge challenge for Ojemudia and the other defensive backs with their wide-open passing attack.
“I like playing a team like Purdue more because there are more opportunities out there,” Ojemudia said. “But it’s definitely a challenge because it can go either way for a defensive back.
“So just being mentally focused and physically ready is the focus for this week.”
Ojemudia was among a select number of Iowa players who attended Tuesday’s weekly press conference. Here are multiple videos with the players:
